Pseudoephedrine, a product that was widely sold and used for its stimulant properties, has been recently ruled illegal for over the counter sales. There are still ways to buy 'ephedrine' legally, but for how long?

Ephedrine is found in the Ephedra species of herbs, the use of which goes a long way back in traditional medicine. Ephedra is used by the Chinese for several disorders, including as an anti-asthmatic and diuretic.

The over the counter drug, ephedrine, gained popularity with weight trainers who feel it gives them a 'boost' in their workouts. This would often be combined with equal amounts of caffeine which when combined appears to more than double the activity. These substances effect the CSN (central nervous system). Ephedrine has a strong stimulating effect that is more prolonged but not as strong as that of adrenaline.

Ephedrine, pseudoephedrine and norpseudoephedrine are all found naturally in the Herb species Ephedra. Norpseudoephedrine is considered to be even a stronger stimulant than ephedrine. This is currently still a legal substance, which may fall under a gray market classification, and is available through some sources.
