Protein and the financially challenged

Here are some cheap protein sources....

Tofu is great (for 99 cents you get about 20-30 grams of protein depending on the type).

Eggs obviously, or even the "Egg-Beaters".

Beans (not always a complete "protein" supposedly, but cheap and versatile, a 75 cent can of kidney beans gets you 30 grams).

Frozen Chicken breasts in bulk (a 4 lb bag costs about $8 versus $6/pound for fresh).

and of course, MILK (for about $2 you can get a gallon which will have roughly 150 grams of protein)!
