cold symptoms after workout
[Post Followup ] [ Anabolic Forum Board ]
Posted by andyEven though I don’t train heavy, I seem to always have a cold lurking. Stuffy nose, congestion, sore throat. I know that this is resistance training related, because when I have stopped training, my cold symptoms have disappeared. Again, I am not even training that heavy. Are there any supplements I can take to boost my immune system and keep these cold symptoms away?
Let me start off by saying that I have a heavy work schedule, a long commute to work every day, and only sleep 4 to 5 hours a night. But….when I don’t resistance train, I NEVER get sick, no matter how little sleep I get.
My exercise routine is currently with a Nordicflex Ultralift. The Ultralift is a workstation that uses your body weight and the weight of the machine for resistance. It’s based on the lever/fulcrum principle.
Because of my work schedule, I’m currently only working out on Saturdays and Sundays, unless I have time off from work during the week. Then I would work out more days that week. My work outs are an hour long. 15 minutes of ab work (sit ups, etc.) and 45 minutes of resistance. Vertical bench press, chest flys, Lat pulldowns, Bent over rows, bicep curls, tricep pushdowns, military press. 5 sets, 10 reps each set, a comfortable amount of resistance. Nothing too crazy. No leg work.
I might ad that when I used to only do push ups ( including hand stand push ups), chin ups on a chin up bar, in other words only body weight exercises, I never got sick. There was also a time when I was working out with a Total Gym, and I never got sick. It seems to be that when I use resistance outside of my body weight to a certain degree…free weights, the Ultralift, etc. I get sick. I always feel great after my work outs, but tend to get a cold soon afterwards. Would vitamin C or another supplement help?
